Congratulations to Kammy

A couple of weeks ago our new member Kammy Leung got married to CL Fok on what looked like a beautiful setting on a boat on the Yarra.

I now have her permission to post this photo so you can all see how great they looked.

RIMERN

Last week we did a second shift in a row and we had 5 volunteers doing a great job. We had our President, Sainab sheik with her son Khalid and Fatima Ali as well as Ted Dziadkiewicz and Larry Robb.

Once again the sift involved helping unload the truck.

Then at 1.00 pm, a full truckload came that we had to unload. It was full of couches and chairs.

Well if that's Larry on the truck all 5 of our volunteers are in the photos above.  Sainab's Janet Jackson look seems to have given her extra strength. She looks like she could have moved that fridge without the trolley.

Please let me know if you are able to do a 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm shift  over the next couple of weeks being Sat 12th Feb and Sat 19th Feb on page@ghp.biz

Upcoming BBQ's

Right at this moment, we are in a stage where we have put in proposals for our club to run 2 fairly big BBQ's for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project on Saturday 12th March and Sunday 13th March and the very big Moomba BBQ the next day on Labour Day on Monday 14th March. We have provided fee proposals for each of them and I expect to find out the outcome in the next couple of days. Clearly, if they all go ahead we will need all hands on deck so even if you are not a member and would be interested to get involved pleased contact me.

Last Week's Meeting

Last week was our first meeting back in person for the year and it ended up a very nice meeting with 10 people attending. Our speaker was our new member Ibrahim Abdi who spoke about his life in his "Member Behind the Badge Talk"

Apart from Ibrahim there was also a friend of his who came to support him, President Sainab Sheikh, Fatuma Ali, Andrew Georgiou, James Long, Ida Whiteman, Herbson Singo, Neville Page, and Judy Page. Ibrahim's story of him coming from Somalia into Kenya and eventually to Australia was very interesting and has ended with him now having a grown-up family here and established accounting practice.
