President's Message

Unfortunately, last week our scheduled speaker got ill on the say and had to postpone and so she is back on this week, tomorrow.

This week we had a Cluster meeting to discuss planning for the District Governors Visit. Like nearly everything else this year will be different. With Phillip Archer as DG, it always was going to be different as he was not proposing to the regular club visits but rather group cluster visits. So that is what is going to happen and of course, it will be a Zoom Cluster DG Visit. It is on Tuesday 1st December 2020 from 6.00 pm to about 7.15 pm.

Unfortunately, for our club, we had already booked our speaker of Jemima Montag for Thursday 3rd December and as it has taken a couple of months to organize it I am not going to change it.  So we will still have our regular meeting and I really would like as many members as possible to attend it but I also want as many as possible to tune in for the DG Visit 2 days earlier. As it turns out our Grandson has his 10th birthday on the same day so I will be celebrating with him at lunchtime so I can make the meeting.

The format for the meeting is the cluster is hosting the event with a Christmas theme and with the E Club handling the technology and Melbourne doing the hosting and Southbank the promotion. Melbourne Central and  North Melbourne will be doing our bit as well and each president has to do a 3-minute presentation and of course, the DG will give his address. I really would appreciate a good attendance from our members.

Judy and I spent the first opportunity to get away on weekend last weekend and visited a friend the thriving metropolis of Tinamba which is about 10 minutes out off Maffra. It's a town with about 20 houses but still has a pub which last year won the Gippsland Business of the Year Award.

It was a good break but being away for the weekend meant I was up to midnight on Sunday night finalizing all MUNA resolutions and sending them off to all the students.

Tomorrow before our meeting at 4.00 pm I will be representing our club at the District's Year 11-12 Foundation Scholarship Seminar

Upcoming speakers

Well as I wrote last week, this week we have Sally Turner who is going to explain to us what the Bendigo Bank can offer our club and we have secured Jemima Montag to speak at our club on 3rd December.

For this week's quote, I thought I should not leave someone out just because I can't find a funny quote from them so here is one from Buddha that is very appropriate in a Rotary environment.

“Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”

Have a great week everyone!
