President's Message

Last week we had Kitty O'Connor speak to us about the final stages of Polio eradication.

She also spoke to us about the "Walkwithus", Annual End Polio Walk. This walk serves both as an awareness project and a fundraiser.

Since the meeting, I have set up a team for our club and we have 5 members entered to date. They are myself and Judy, Ida Whiteman, Susan Robb, and Andrew Georgiou.

The event takes place over the whole month of October so there is plenty of time to register and go on plenty of walks, so why not join us.

Here is the login page where you register https://www.rotarywalkwithus.org/

There has been a bit occur in the vocational field this week. On Friday I prepared and emailed our club's answers to the Districts Questionnaire on our Club's Vocational Activities. Yesterday Susan Robb has represented our club at a meeting organized by the Central Melbourne RC where they discussed programs that relate to

  1. Mentoring
  2. Youth
  3. Job Ready
  4. Partnership with Business.

She is also attending another meeting next Monday and also going to attend training sessions for mentors. Thanks, Susan.

I mentioned at last week's meeting we were celebrating our Jewish new year the next night.

Well, it all went ahead but instead of the usual big family dinner, it was dinner for 2 again just like our Anniversary dinner the week before except this time the food wasn't from Bombay Club.  It was homemade Gefilte Fish and as a traditional Jewish meal as possible eaten while on Zoom with the rest of the family.

Judy has been working well keeping our speakers booked up and the program coming up is as follows:

A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don’t need it.”
