UKRAINE FUNDRAISING CONCERT

A week is a long while when organizing something like this. I'd say Ted and I have about 12 emails a day on this project and who knows how many other contacts Ted has each day as I'm only working on the edges on this.

so there is a bit to report.

Firstly, the concert is a definite goer and thanks to generous sponsors everything collect will be a complete profit and all funds will go into the cause of supporting the people of Ukraine through us using the avenue of the Rotary Foundation of Australia who has established a specific Ukraine Disaster Aid Response Fund. This means that there is now the opportunity to purchase tickets for $25/person as well as make a donation to the Rotary Foundation of Australia. At the end of the event, we will provide the details of every donation so that a Tax Deductible Receipt can be provided to each donor directly from the foundation. All funds including the concert seat sales will go to the Foundation fund.

If it had not been for our sponsors we would have been incurring very high expenses. The cost of hiring the Melbourne Town Hall and all the running expenses on the day including ushers, security, cleaners, Covid Marshalls, and the technology including the sound system is in the order of $20,000.00.

Successful Grant Application

A few weeks ago we applied for a grant from our new bank, being the Bendigo Community Bank, Strathmore Branch and we have just been advised they are providing us a $2,000.00 grant.

It really has such support from our own bank.

Naturally, this does not cover the main expenses and this is covered by the generosity of Downer. Downer is the owner of Spotless and is the owner of Epicure.

So we’d really like to thank Downer who is the Major Sponsor of this event and means we can host this event within the iconic Melbourne Town Hall.

Date: Saturday 7th May 2022 at 3.00 pm

Venue: Melbourne Town Hall

Cost: $25.00/person, $10.00/child 12 and under

The concert will feature singers, choirs, dancers, and Keynote Speakers

Rotary District 9800 Conference 2022

This is now only just over 2 weeks away. Though I am still promoting this I am pretty confident our club's involvement is now finalized.

Judy and I and Herbson will all be traveling up together on Friday morning and we will soon try and organize to have our club dinner with another club.

Later that day after he finishes his lectures at Melbourne University Global Grant Scholar from Japan, Atsuya Tazoe will travel up on the train arriving at about 10.00 pm and I will pick him up from the station.

RIMERN

Regarding volunteer opportunities for Rimern we are continuing to restrict our participation to Saturday afternoons and as the facility will be closed on the 16th and 23rd of April that means we are looking for volunteers for the following 2 Saturdays: 9th April and 30th April.

Please let me know if you are able to do a 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm shift on any of those Saturdays or a weekday as well if it suits you. on page@ghp.biz

Last week Susan Robb represented our club by helping host the representative from Launching House to select furniture and homewares for her client.

The Election date has not been set yet but the money is on Saturday 14th May 2022 and it will be at the North Melbourne Primary School

Naturally, it is on Mother's Day, 8th May 2022 at Alexandra Gardens - Melbourne

METRO TUNNEL BBQ No. 2

The date was to also be on Mother's Day but fortunately, they have now advised they would like to put it off to Sunday 22nd May 2022. This is good news as it means we don't have a clash anymore.
