Rotary District 9800 Conference 2022

I have been promoting this conference for quite a while now so I thought I would try putting it on the top of the agenda instead of at the bottom of the newsletter.

I can confirm that Judy and I have actually registered now and it was as straightforward a process as it was meant to be.

The idea is to go on this Trybookings link             https://www.trybooking.com/BWKQC

At that point, you need to put in your name and your home Rotary club. At early that point I got stuck as believe it or not they had left "North Melbourne" off the list so I couldn't register.

Anyway, I contacted the District Secretary and she fixed it up straight away so all is good now.

Dates:               Fri 22 Apr 2022 5:00 PM - Sun 24 Apr 2022 2:00 PM

Location:          Albury Entertainment Centre

525 Swift Street, Albury New South Wales 2640

The cost for the whole conference including the Saturday night Gala Dinner and all meals except for breakfasts is $430.00 or $330.00 for first-timers.

As I mentioned before our Global Grant Scholar from Japan Atsuya is also registered

Apart from all these speakers, there will also be others and you will find out a lot about what is going on about Rotary in our District and around the world.

Judy and I have been to most of the conferences over the last 25 years and it is definitely the highlight of our Rotary year. We would love you to join us. We have been able to book 2 nights at a motel near the conference for only $90/night and we can book you in if you contact me.

Upcoming BBQ's

As I advised last week the 2 BBQs I had previously reported for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel project were deferred from last weekend to the following other dates.

THIS SUNDAY 27th March 2022 at the new Arden Station site in North Melbourne at 9.30 am for about 5 hrs.

We need 8 volunteers for this Sunday and we still have not got enough volunteers so please contact Andrew Georgiou on andrw.georgiou@bigpond.com if you can assist.

The next date for the other Melbourne Tunnel BBQ is Mothers Day, 8th May 2022 also at 9.30 am.

As well on the same day,  Mother's we have also committed to helping out at the BBQ for the Mother's Day Classic at Alexandra Gardens - Melbourne.

As well there is the Federal Election BBQ coming up. The date hasn't been set yet but the last day it can be held in the 21st May 2022 so hopefully, it isn't put on the day before Mother's Day.

We have decided we just cannot commit to the request by the Centre to also run a BBQ on Friday 8th April 2022.

UKRAINE FUNDRAISING CONCERT

As an update on this project, I can say that Ted has continued to do a lot more work and we now have full applications into the city of Melbourne to book the venue either at the Melbourne Town Hall or the Meat Market Craft Centre and for a grant to cover the hire cost.

Our Grant application has also been submitted to Bendigo Bank for funding as well.

Ted has organized, singers, choirs, and speakers for the event and we hope to raise funds for Ukraine by having 500 people attending. As well Ted's daughter Nicola will now be helping us to run the Trybookings account for the event.

RIMERN

Regarding volunteer opportunities for Rimern we are continuing to restrict our participation to Saturday afternoons and as the facility will be closed on the 16th and 23rd April that means we are looking for volunteers for the following 3 Saturdays: 2nd April, 9th April and 30th April.

Please let me know if you are able to do a 12.30pm to 3.30 pm shift on any of those Satudays or a weekday as well if it suits you. on page@ghp.biz
